I am taking a 5 day workshop in Palm Desert, with Caroline Jasper, who I consider my color mentor. She does primarily landscapes, so I probably will wind up doing one or two this week, but today I got to cheat and sneak in painting a girl. Color already is my thing and I would hesitate to take a workshop in color from anyone but Caroline, but in my mind she is a bit of a color god.
Today I focused on value, and the main lesson I am taking home from her today, and hope to apply to my work in the future is that value is just as important, or maybe even more so, as color.
Below is what I spent the day painting. I don’t think she is quite done but I like the direction she is heading.
