Portraits of Imaginary Friends and Other Impulses

A certain softness of lips

I was so happy to be able to spend hours and days in my studio last week and this person evolved into my canvas with a certain androgyny and also a softness to their lips that is rare for one of my paintings that tend to have mouths even more often distinctive as their sometimes large ears or noses.  Inspired by my friend Parrick of Patrick Dennis Gallery of Cambria I first did an under drawing in oil pastels which usually is a material I reserved for the children in the classroom but they do add a bit of playfulness that I find remains even though the pastels are barely visible when the work is finished.  This painting is rather large and I expect will hang at my first Cambria show at Patrick’s Gallery in a few months.
