Once a year or so I like to continue my own education with an indepth workshop with someone I consider a modern master. When choosing the workshop, of course the mentor must also suite my own work. That doesn’t mean that have to paint in the same style as me but they must have knowledge I can absorb and that will help me in my own art journey. When searching for a workshop mentor I look for someone contemporary and colorful and most importantly, who’s work grasps my attention, freezes me in my tracks and inspires me. My three favorite workshop teachers are Caroline Jasper, Linda Kemp and Robert Burridge, each who challenge me and inspire me, and I feel not just inspiration but a jump in my work immediately following the classes.
